Spiritual Gifts are Gifts from God
Every ability you have — teaching, encouraging, giving, leading — was placed in you on purpose. Here's why spiritual gifts were never meant to make us proud, but to point others to God.
Spiritual Gifts are Gifts from God
We all are good at something. It could be encouraging others, teaching, showing compassion to others who are difficult to love, or having the ability to sing and play an instrument. All these abilities are spiritual gifts from God. He provides everyone with some type of spiritual gift. He gives different gifts to people so they can serve others, to accomplish His will, and to bring Him glory. People will see what others do and how they use their spiritual gifts and will give praise to God (1 Peter 4:10-11, 1 Corinthians 12: 4-7).
Spiritual gifts are given and empowered by God so we cannot boast or brag about ourselves. We cannot do what we do without Him. Anyone who uses their spiritual gifts should do it humbly and recognize that their gifts are from God so the glory will go to Him and not to us (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 1 Peter 4:10-11).
Not everyone has the same spiritual gifts or talents. We should not compare our gifts to each other. God will still use each of our unique abilities for His glory to help His kingdom grow (1 Corinthians 12:8-11). The truth is God does not really need our help to do anything. All that we are able to accomplish is all possible by God’s grace.
Prayer of the day:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for providing us with spiritual gifts. Your gifts will help us to serve others, to expand Your kingdom, and to accomplish Your will. You do not need our help but are willing to provide us with gifts because You are full of grace. Please help us to remain humble and help us to remember that we cannot do anything without You. Let us serve others with our gifts with joy.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
