I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
“You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.” - Psalm 139:13-14

Everyone has had someone say something negative about them. Maybe it was that they were ugly, or they were overweight and need to lose some weight. People can be cruel due to sin and being influenced by what the world says is beautiful. But knowing what God thinks about us instead of people can help us view ourselves in a more positive way. We were made by God in an amazing and wonderful way even if we have a hard time thinking that way about ourselves.

God formed us in our mother’s body; therefore, we should not criticize or think less of how God created us. 1 Timothy 4:4 says, “for everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.” When we think negatively about ourselves then we are suggesting God did not do a “good” job in creating us.

God does everything perfectly and in a way that pleases Him (Psalm 18:30). For that reason, we can turn to the truth of God before believing people’s lies and what they think. The real truth we need to know is that we were created in His image and everything He created is good (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 1: 31)!

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

Help us to see how You created us and not how others think or say of us. When we struggle with low self-esteem, please remind us how You created us to be. You made us beautiful and wonderful in Your image. Help us to reflect Your image to a broken world. The people in the world say mean things about us to hurt us. That is the reason we need daily reminders of how You view us instead. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
