Stressful Times Call for Spiritual Measures

“Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives. The burden that I ask you to accept is easy; the load I give you to carry is light.”-Matthew 11:28-30

What a great promise from Jesus. He reminds us that we can find rest in Him. Whatever we are experiencing, either stress, sin, or heartache Jesus is by our side. We will all experience trials or do sinful things because we are sinners living in a broken world with non-perfect people. Satan is also roaming the world causing havoc in people’s lives.

Jesus also reminds us in John 16:33 that we can have peace in Him because in this world we will have trouble but be brave! He has defeated the world. Jesus is our only hope to be free from sin and worries. There is nothing on earth that can bring us true security like Jesus because the things on earth are temporary and failing. If we turn to earthly things to find comfort and hope, then we make people, things, or objects idols.

The good news is that God never intended for us to carry the burdens alone. He sent Jesus to carry the burdens on the cross at Calvary. God made it possible by His grace. We are blessed to have Jesus as our savior who cares. Try not to lose hope and stay focused on God’s promise by continuing to study the Scriptures and pray constantly in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

Jesus’ words are very comforting. It is wonderful to know that we have Jesus to turn to in our time of need. There will be times in our lives when we have anxiety and sin and fall short of Your glory. Please help us when we sin to repent of it. Thank you for providing us with Your saving grace. We are grateful for what Jesus did on the cross at Calvary. Help us to stay focused on You no matter what happens. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
