His Words are Trustworthy and are True

His Words are Trustworthy and are True
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

There are not many things in the world that are trustworthy. Even people we are close to hurt us and let us down. For that reason, there is nothing on earth that we can put our total trust in other than God. To truly know what He requires of people, the Bible is the only place to turn to.

What the Bible tells us about God and His instructions can be trusted and are true. In Revelation 22:6, an angel of the Lord tells John that everything the angel told him that is written in Revelation will happen. John can trust it because it is from God. The same goes for the rest of the Bible. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Paul tells us that all Scripture is from God. It is used for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. It also equips a believer for every good work that God has called them to do.

The words of God that are written in the Bible were done by different people. They can be trusted and are true even if it is difficult to believe or understand it. God is not a God of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) nor does He intentionally want to trick us by providing us with false information about Himself.

2 Peter 1:20-21 gives us another reminder of the authenticity of Scripture:

"Most of all, you must understand this: No prophecy in the Scriptures ever comes from the prophet’s own interpretation. No prophecy ever came from what a person wanted to say, but people led by the Holy Spirit spoke words from God."

Therefore, His words can be trusted and are true!

A prayer for today:

Dear heavenly Father,

Your words can be trusted and are true. Help us to put our total trust in You. Give us the knowledge to understand the truth so we can apply it to our lives. The Bible provides us with instruction on what not to do, how to live a righteous life and what is to come in the future. It helps us to know Jesus is real and His work on the cross is Your plan to save people from eternal punishment. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
