A Love Like No Other

A Love Like No Other
“But God shows His great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.” -Romans 5:8

Would you sacrifice your life to save someone else? The Bible says not very many people would. Romans 5:7 says, “very few people will die to save the life of someone else. Although perhaps for a good person someone might possibly die.” God is different and showed His great love by sacrificing His son to save all who believe in Him from eternal death and did it “while we were still sinners.” Jesus died even for people who we think are not worthy of heaven. God is very merciful to anyone who humbles themselves, confess they need a savior and come to repentance (Ephesians 2:4-5). No matter what they have done, God is ready to save and forgive them (1 John 1:9).

God saved Paul, a persecutor of Christians (Acts 8:3, Acts 9:3-20) and Peter, the disciple who denied knowing Jesus, not just once but three times while Jesus was being arrested (Luke 22:55-62). Why would God do this? The answer is simple, it is about a love like no other. Jesus showed the greatest love by dying for His friends even though we do not deserve it because of our sins and the penalty of sin is death (John 15:13, Romans 6:23). But, when we accept Jesus as our savior, we become a friend of God, receive the gift of salvation, are not condemned to hell and it is all because of God’s love. A love like no other!

Prayer of the day:

Dear heavenly Father,

We see Your love on the cross. It is all because of Jesus that we are saved. There is no greater love than Yours. You showed it to us by Jesus’ sacrifice. If we have to die for the name of Jesus or for a person, please give us the courage to do it. We cannot do it without You. It is only by Your love and mercy that we have a friend in Jesus who died to save us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
